Question: When logging into Smart Priority Numbers, I receive a message saying:

"Could not connect to Vision data - Application will now close."

Error Message

Answer: This will appear if the initial users password has been changed. By default we provide SYS as the default user (Although it can be anybody) and if the SYS password has changed it will no longer be able to access Vision.

To rectify this, open O:\Program\SmartPN folder and delete the SmartPN.ini file. When you next open Smart Priority Numbers it will ask you to re-enter the password for a user.

To stop this from happening each time the password changes, we recommend that you set up a dummy user in Vision and inactivate the account this will retain the Vision link and the password will never expire.

  1. Open Vision Management Tools > Control Panel > File Maintenance > Staff
  2. Click the Add button and enter the following information:
  • Surname: Smart
  • Forename: Priorities
  • Sex: Unknown
  • Title: Major
  • Short Name: Smart
  1. Click the Professional tab and select "Administrator", then click OK
  2. You will be asked if you want to set up the new user in Security > Click YES
  3. Enter a login name: SMART
  4. Click OK and then enter a password > click OK
  5. When back at the Staff list, right mouse click the new Smart Priority user and click EDIT
  6. Tick the Inactive checkbox > You will be asked if you wish to inactivate the user in security, click YES.
  7. Click OK and close Control Panel

Now: Open O:\Program\SmartPN folder and delete the SmartPN.ini file.

When asked to re-enter the username and password enter the details you just set up:

Data Locations

Click Update. As nobody can ever login to this user the password will never change.
