This is a great little utility that holds all your favorite Read codes, in one place with an added search facility should it start to grow beyond normal scrolling needs.

It also enables you to save preset default selections for each specific Read code, such as:

• Priority Number

• Episode Type

• Characteristic Type

• In Practice tick

• Private tick

• Automatically add free text comments

• Comments Text Cursor to Suffix or Prefix

• Automatically add to patient record

All you have to do to add a Read code to Vision from the Smart Read coding list is double-click anywhere on the Read code line. Note: You must have a consultation started!

There is also an option to save it automatically to the patient record without any user intervention required, or leave the medical history open for further text to be added by the user.

There is no limit to the amount of Read codes you can add to each Smart Read coding list or even how many different lists you may want to create.

This program is self contained and needs no installation, therefore it will work in ANY Microsoft Windows environment, which means it works on hosted systems such as WES, VES, etc... and those sites that maintain their own server.

It enables you to Add, Edit and Delete any Read code from the program.

Each Read code list is maintained in its own folder, so if you want to create lots of Smart Read coding lists, just save the executable into it's own folder. It's that simple!

Smart Read coding list may be added to a Vision guideline for everybody in the practice to use, or save it in your own personal drive/folder so that it becomes your personal list, accessible from your desktop if you prefer.

Licence support and further program updates are only valid for 1 year. Thereafter any further program updates and support will require a licence renewal.

Add Application to Vision Guideline

Follow these steps to add a shortcut button to your Local Guideline Index within Consultation Manager to open the Smart Read coding application.

1. Open Consultation Manager
2. Click the Local Guideline Index Button in the top toolbar

3. Click the Maintain button on the Local Guideline Index toolbar

 

4. A new floating toolbar will now appear, click the Application button on this toolbar

5. Click the Browse button to locate the Smart Read coding program 

6. Enter a description to be displayed on the button or icon
7. Remove the "Display as icon" tick to show a button, or leave it in to show the program icon. 
8. Click OK 
9. Click the Maintain button on the Local Guideline Index toolbar to save changes 

Everybody now has access to the Smart Read coding program from the Local Guideline Index

 

Download and Installation Instructions

Please note you only need to download this once, thereafter just create a desktop shortcut from the program Add menu for each user.

1. Click the button above to start the download.
2. The File Download dialog box appears; click the “SAVE” button.

 

6. Select a folder to save the program into, we recommend a shared drive if you want to make it available to all users in the practice, like O:\Download

6. Wait for the file to complete the download and click Run button

7. Click Run if an Internet Explorer - Security Warning should appear to start the program or Don't Run to do this at a later time from your chosen folder location.

11. If you did click the Run button above, you can click the Add menu on the Smart Read coding toolbar to create a shortcut icon on your desktop or add the application to the Vision local guideline index.

Important Note:
If you are on a hosted solution, please make sure you run the program on the hosted environment. The easiest way to achieve this is to download this program from within the hosted area and save the file to either your G: or O: or P: drive. If you cannot see these drive letters you are not within the hosted environment.
