Easy Read code Search Utility

This little Microsoft Access program makes it easy to find any Read code using one or two words.
Very easy to use and saves lots of time and frustration trying to find the right read code, an essential tool for summarisers.

Credits:
The program was originally written by Dr Richard White (NVUG member), but we tweaked it a little.

We created two versions so that those practice's on remote servers could also benefit.

Practice Server Edition

This version is for those practices' that have there own server, as it enables them to download the program once and then run an update within the program as and when a new Read code database is available.

Before you can use the utility you will need to open it (with a double-click), then click the "Update Read Database" button. This will update the utility with the latest set of Read codes from Vision.

Remote Server Edition (Updated 16/10/2011)

This version is for those practices' that are on a remote server, as it has the latest Read  code database Quarter 3 2011 built-in, which means that it may be used immediately after the download has completed.

Easy Drug Search Utility

This very easy to use little MS Access program will provide drug information by entering either a drug name or Read code.

Such as Drug name, Drug Read code, FP10, Discontinued and Generic.

Before you can use the utility you will need to open it (with a double-click), then click the "Update Read Database" button. This will update the utility to the latest drug set.

Note:

We did not design a remote server version for this as drug updates are monthly which would mean constants updates being written for the utility.

Download Instructions

If on a hosted server please make sure that you download and install this within your hosted environment, i.e. you must be able to see the Vision icon on your desktop.

1.  Click the big green "Start Download Now!" button
2. Click "Save" at the Security Warning screen prompt
3. Take a note of the file name as you will need this for installation!
4. Select a folder to save the file into and click the "Save" button
5. When download is complete click "Open Folder" button. ( or open the folder yourself, i.e. previous step)

Installation Instructions

1. Double-click on the downloaded file from above
2. Click "Run" at the Security Warning screen prompt
3. Click "Yes" to continue with the unzip process
4. Click "Browse" button and select a folder to save the file into. We recommend that you save this on a shared drive like G:\Global or O:\Download, etc...
5. Click "OK" to close the Browse for Folder screen
6. Click "Unzip" button
7. Click "OK" when successful
8. Click "Close" button.

Create a quick access link in Vision Consultation Manager

1. Open Consultation Manager
2. Press F12 on your keyboard to open the "Local Guideline Index"
3. Click on the "Maintain" button in the guideline toolbar (shown as a pencil, ruler and set square)
4. Click "Application" button on the new toolbar shown on the right of the screen
5. Click "Browse" button and locate the folder where you saved the program
6. Change "Files of Type" drop down list to shown "All Files"
7. Select the program file i.e. ...Read Code search.mdb
8. Click "Open" button
9. Type a description such as "Easy Read Code Search Program"
10. If you like buttons remove the tick from "Display as icon"
11. Click "OK"
12. Click on the "Maintain" button in the guideline toolbar (shown as a pencil, ruler and set square) to save

You have now successfully created a link to the program for all vision users in your surgery
