Merging a Vision DBF export in Excel

This will briefly explain the steps you need to take to merge no more than two .dbf exported files from Vision in Microsoft Excel.

Please note: that using this method in Excel means that data must exist in all tables for the pat_id match.

For example if you merge 3 tables, smoking, BP and patient, if a patient doesn't have either a BP or a smoking record they will be excluded from the final export entirely. It would be better to do a tab separated search if you want to merge more than 2 tables or where you know some patients may have missing data.
