Merging a Vision DBF export in ExcelThis will briefly explain the steps you need to take to merge no more than two .dbf exported files from Vision in Microsoft Excel. Please note: that using this method in Excel means that data must exist in all tables for the pat_id match. For example if you merge 3 tables, smoking, BP and patient, if a patient doesn't have either a BP or a smoking record they will be excluded from the final export entirely. It would be better to do a tab separated search if you want to merge more than 2 tables or where you know some patients may have missing data. Vision Search OutputThis means that you have selected this method of report output in your Vision search.
Microsoft ExcelOpen Microsoft Excel
If on a hosted system this will be: P:\extract\<windows account name>\ Alternatively, click the Browse button and navigate to your Vision search output folder
Click the + symbol to expand the tables and double click on each column name you would like to see in your final spreadsheet. This will remove them from the left list and move then over to the right window area.
Locate Pat_id in both tables and then drag one to the other to create a join line
